FOUNDATION Strainer

Strainers are fixed at the corners similar to a frame. This substrate does not expand and cannot be “keyed” like a traditional stretcher. This provides a strong and immovable substrate that can withstand heavy workloads and/or multiple iterations of paintings. The corners of our strainers are reinforced with Baltic Birch plywood triangles, keeping each joint square for the lifetime of the workpiece. Strainers come fully assembled and/or stretched.
